Frances Cunningham (cittern, mandolin, vocals) was introduced to Celtic music at the famous Wednesday night sessions at McGonigel's Mucky Duck in Houston (where she raised eyebrows not only for her amazingly quick fingers, but also for her ability to laugh uproariously at things considered by others to be only remotely humorous). An avid Contra dancer and traditional music lover, she has pioneered a style of cittern playing that has never been seen before. She is largely responsible for the quirks and odd breaks in the band's arrangements. She is composer of original jigs, reels, and waltzes that sound a hundred and fifty years old. Her clear soprano voice and ear for vocal harmonies are also essential to the band's sound.
